About

Engineer at heart, product leader by craft.

I’m a Group Product Manager at BrowserStack, where I lead the customer-facing reporting, analytics & workflows platform across five products that together generate more than $140M in annual recurring revenue. My world runs from the data a client SDK emits, through real-time Kafka ingestion pipelines and the database schemas I co-own, to the visualization and workflows that users actually touch. I like problems that live where rigorous engineering meets real business outcomes.

I started out in Alipurduar, a small town in West Bengal, and made my way to an M.Tech in Computer Science at BARC, five years building mission-critical software for nuclear reactors, an MBA from IIM Bangalore (top 10% of the batch), and then BrowserStack. I’m the only PM in the company’s history promoted four times in under five years, from Associate PM to Group PM, and a recipient of the CEO Hall of Fame.

That engineering foundation shapes how I work: correctness, performance, and stability are first-class product concerns, not afterthoughts. I partner with engineering on the decisions that determine whether a product holds up under load, and just as closely with go-to-market teams — value-selling to executives and speaking to rooms of 500+ engineers. I own product analytics end-to-end, too: I define the instrumentation and the metrics, then measure them myself in Amplitude or hand-written BigQuery SQL, rather than waiting on a data team. In the last few months I’ve gone further and become a full-stack builder myself, shipping production features and an entire “PM Operating System” with AI coding tools.

Selected work

A few things I’m proud of building.

A platform PM’s work is mostly invisible when it goes right. Here are the initiatives behind the numbers — each one a problem, a bet, and a measurable outcome.

Built a 0→1 product, then turned it into a platform

Test Reporting & Analytics (formerly Test Observability)

A first-of-its-kind product in a brand-new category. I ran 50+ deep discovery interviews, then built it end to end — automatic data capture via SDK, real-time distributed Kafka processing, and the business logic that turns raw test data into debugging, analytics, and automated workflows. After it hit $1M+ ARR standalone, I made the case to the founders to turn it into the default experience for five products, trading standalone revenue for far larger platform leverage.

  • 0 → 30,000+ monthly active customers
  • 93% weekly retention as an opt-in add-on — beating the products’ native dashboards, zero marketing
  • +50 NPS · later became the default UX across 5 products

Authored the automation platform vision — and I’m executing it

Automation Test Platform vision

I built the business case for unifying all of BrowserStack’s automation products onto one common platform powered by Test Reporting & Analytics, won executive buy-in, and now lead the multi-year execution. It means aligning two VPs of Product and six Directors of Product & Engineering whose products my customer-facing platform cuts across — influence without authority, at scale.

  • 4 Senior PMs & 35 engineers in the org
  • Sole non-director first-round interviewer (a VP ask)
  • De-facto director of product reporting into a VP

Fixed performance across 19 global data centers

Automate — the #1 reason deals were lost

I defined the performance problem as a business problem, built the case, and aligned the founders on a 2-core → 4-core upgrade across the entire device-grid infrastructure in all 19 data centers, plus a series of software optimizations. I led the six-month program end to end.

  • 30% faster test execution (100s → 70s)
  • Deals lost to performance: 20% → under 3%

Made docs a product — and a growth engine

Developer documentation platform

Great docs drive bottom-up, product-led adoption. I helped rebuild the developer documentation platform and treated it like the product it is, measuring satisfaction and the new-user “aha moment” rate that correlates with paid conversion.

  • Docs satisfaction 23% → 78% in a year
  • New-user “aha” rate roughly doubled
  • ~40% lift in paid conversion across the year

Launched modern framework support that compounds today

Cypress, Playwright & Puppeteer on real-device infra

Early on as PM for Automate, I built and launched support for the modern test automation frameworks teams were moving to. Customers using them are a major slice of the business today.

  • ~$20M ARR attributed to these frameworks today

Became a full-stack builder — and built a “PM Operating System”

Building with AI coding tools

In the last few months I’ve shipped large multi-repo features end-to-end myself — brief, design, backend, frontend, data flow, DB schema, regression testing, and CI/CD. I also architected a personal “PM Operating System”: agents that stack-rank blockers across Slack and Jira every morning, watch deal risks and customer sentiment, and power productized stability, performance, and operational-excellence dashboards read weekly by the CTO and VP of Product.

  • 20+ productized platform health metrics (L0–L3)
  • Self-service analytics: Amplitude & hand-written BigQuery SQL
  • Builder, not just definer, of complex metrics

How I think

Operating principles I keep coming back to.

A PM should be a true technical partner.

Not standing at a distance from engineering — in the data models, the schema choices, the architecture. I pressure-test designs against concrete, user-facing requirements, because a design only matters if it holds up where real people meet the product.

Stability and performance are business metrics.

I’ve proven to a CTO that low data stability has catastrophic, customer-facing impact. Reliability isn’t an engineering nicety you bolt on later; it’s a number the business should care about and I should own.

Build the thing, then prove it pays.

From a single-handed ROI calculator that closes executive buyers, to dashboards I build myself — I’d rather demonstrate value concretely than argue it abstractly. Measure, instrument, and hold teams accountable to the number.

Win the battle in front of you.

I persevere until I do. I like hard, ambiguous problems where the right answer isn’t obvious — and I don’t want a role far from the engineering and the business. The closer to where the work actually happens, the better.

Beyond work

The parts that aren’t on a resume.

Endurance cyclist

I rode a 300km BRM brevet just three months after I started cycling. Endurance is the through-line of how I approach most things: show up, keep the pedals turning, finish what I started.

Quantified self

I measure to improve. Over 18 months I took myself from 100kg to 72kg and from 38% to 14% body fat, and reversed several out-of-range health markers back into healthy ranges — medication-free — through data, DNA-informed nutrition, and consistency.

Builder — beeingbaniya.com

I built beeingbaniya.com to fix my own habit of overspending — it tracks and categorizes every transaction and nudges me. It cut my spend by 50% in three months. There’s an explore sandbox; you can try it without signing up.

Perpetual competitor

School topper, sports secretary, national case-competition winner, gold-medalist photographer. I love to win — not against people, but against the problem and the person I was yesterday.

Writing

Thoughts, in progress.

I’m starting to write — on technical product management, building with AI, platform thinking, and the quantified-self experiments I run on myself. The blog is coming soon. In the meantime, the fastest way to follow along is LinkedIn.
